Our air force participates as a full partner in both NORAD and NATO to deter, detect and defend against aerospace threats. Canada's airmen and women have been involved in missions in Canada and around the world to provide a search and rescue capability or to give humanitarian assistance to those in need when and where required. This combat-ready force takes an active role in multinational missions, including Afghanistan and most recently in Libya, representing Canada's interests on the world stage and helping to maintain global stability. The Air Force flies peace support missions and conveys relief workers, emergency food and medical supplies to scenes of natural disasters or those locations where armed conflicts have left little behind for the people.
